Tips for Cleaning Plasma Screens
Few people own the old type of TV these days. More and more people are buying plasma televisions so cleaning plasma screens has become a topic that a lot of people are interested in. These televisions are so popular due to the fact that they provide a superior viewing experience, but the surface of the screens are different than the old style televisions and they have to be cleaned differently. Dust will settle on the screen, there is really no way to prevent this; after some time the dust will dull the screen and prevent you from getting the best quality picture.
Here are some tips for cleaning plasma screens so that you can keep it working as good as the day you bought it.
One thing to keep in mind when cleaning plasma screens is that they are shiny so they will gather dust and fingerprints like a magnet. You not only have to clean your screen on a regular basis, but you will also have to do so very carefully so as not to damage it, as these screens are very fragile.
The first step to cleaning plasma screens is to make sure you have a very soft cloth; using the wrong type of cloth can leave scratches in your screen. The best type of cloth to use is soft cotton, or you can use a micro-fiber cloth. Another option is to use toilet paper; you can also clean the screen with a paper towel, though it is important to use a brand that doesn’t have a textured surface. Some plasma screens do have a protective glass surface; in this case there are cleaners that you can use when cleaning plasma screens. Keep in mind that whatever cleaner you use, it should never contain ammonia, as this will damage the protective covering on the screen.
The next thing you will need to do is read the user manual. There you will find instructions for cleaning your particular TV, plus there will likely be information on the types of cleaners that you can use on the screen, if any.
Next, use a soft, dry cloth to remove a lot of the dust from the screen; most of this you can do without having to moisten your cloth. If there is any dust left, you can dampen the cloth slightly to finish removing the dust.
If you have to, you can use a mild detergent for cleaning dust and fingerprints from the screen. Don’t use a glass cleaner, but instead find a product that is specifically made for cleaning plasma screens. Harsh cleaners can damage the surface of the screen, leaving smudges and scratches.
When cleaning plasma screens you will want to use only slight pressure; if you use too much pressure this can also damage your screen.
Before and after cleaning your TV, you will want to be taking special care of it. It is important not to let children or anyone else touch the screen. This will leave fingerprints and smudges that may not be too easy to get rid of. Of course you will not want any rough play around your TV, if someone accidentally hits the screen with something it could damage the screen. It is also important that you clean your screen at least once per week; this will ensure that there is not enough time between cleanings for dust to settle in and cause damage to your screen.
Cleaning plasma screens is really not too difficult, but it is a delicate process. Preventing damage and fingerprints is just as important as regular cleaning.
